Building “Pocket Corridors for San Diego’s Pollinators

Last year, you helped plant a seed—literally. Today, thanks to your generosity, Escondido elementary students aren’t just looking at pictures of nature in a textbook; they are stepping outside into vibrant pollinator gardens they helped create.

Because of you, these students are nurturing “pocket corridors” of native San Diego plants that act as a lifeline for local bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. In the middle of an urban heat island, you have created a cool, blooming sanctuary.

Your gifts have transformed these school campuses into “living classrooms.” Here, curiosity is the curriculum.

During the school day and in our current eight-week after-school program, your support allows students to engage in Garden Safaris, where they discover the tiny ecosystems thriving in their own backyard, and in Garden Math & Poetry, where they integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) with the natural world.

Later this month, students will showcase their artwork and poems to their friends and families, a moment of pride made possible by donors like you, a powerful collaboration with the Escondido Union School District, and a generous donation from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
