Immersive Experiences for
Grade 5 Students and Families

Get Out In Nature (GOIN) encourages and supports family learning and adventuring in nature-based environments in coastal San Diego County and beyond. This series offers you and your family a cost-free half-day experience that opens the door to new and familiar outdoor spaces to connect with wildlife and the places they live. The goal is to help students and their families connect with and have fun while learning and exploring together in outdoor settings.

About Your Experience

These memorable outings include nature hikes, moments for quiet reflection and nature journaling, wildlife investigation, and fun, hands-on engagements for the whole family. Each experience includes a Nature Collective adventure kit, a light snack, and guided nature-based activities. GOIN locations vary, including exploring and learning about local plants, animals, and other wildlife that call San Diego County home.

In partnership with Escondido Union School District, San Diego County Parks and Recreation, and California State Coastal Conservancy.

    Destination: Rios Trail + Annie’s Canyon Trail

    Time: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm Saturday, March 18, 2023

Join Nature Collective in discovering new and exciting corners of the San Elijo Lagoon while learning about plants indigenous to the area. On this adventure, you’ll hug the narrow sandstone walls along San Diego’s famous Annie’s Canyon Trail and take in the expansive views of the newly restored lagoon.

Note: Annie’s Canyon Trail is known for its vertical, narrow, and confined pathways, which may be uncomfortable to some. Alternative trail available.

Join Nature Collective’s spring festival celebrating nature’s renewal. Learn why flowers and pollinators need each other. Discover ways you can help pollinators thrive in your backyard. Go on a nature scavenger hunt, meet a live animal and make a nature craft to take home.

Join in the fun and adventure of restoring important plant communities surrounding the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve. Enjoy some hands-on fun during a visit to Nature Collective’s native plant nursery and hike through areas that are blooming with winter colors.
