Note about References Cited: Our sources range from authoritative books and reviewed scientific publications to newspaper articles and blogs. Reference number 100 includes bits of information that were received by way of mouth, information that seems reasonable, but for which we are unable to find a published or electronic source. In all cases, the user must judge the validity of such “facts” for themselves.
