San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy and Restoration Team Members Presented Updates in the 3rd Reviving Your Wetlands Open House

Tim Stillinger, Conservancy Scientific Program Director, presented in the 3rd Open House on Monday, December 10, 2018

We are one year into the San Elijo Lagoon Restoration. Already, so much is visible in the progress we are making for tidal circulation and habitat enhancement.

Last night, Conservancy Scientific Program Director Tim Stillinger opened the presentation with results achieved in this amazing first year. Stillinger is also heading the Surfing Study which is analyzing now, and post-restoration, the effects (if any) of increased tidal circulation on wave quality at Cardiff State Beach. Lagoon Restoration is also about preserving our way of life. Think of more: new trail connections will be coming as habitat enhancements wind down mid-2020.

We thank and recognize: City of Encinitas for providing the space at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center. Delicious holiday-inspired apple cider, tea and cookies were provided by Ki’s Restaurant. Representatives with SANDAG (Build NCC), Moffat & Nicholand AECOM provided visuals and answered questions following the presentation. 

The 4th Open House will be announced in late winter. In the meantime, we invite you to show off your lagoon with visiting family and friends this season.
